10 benefits of gratitude
The power of gratitude
10 benefits of practising gratitude:
Improves self-esteem
Improves energy and health
It makes us happier and more optimistic
More resilient and deal with adversity better
Are more generous and forgiving
Keeps you in the present moment
Be happier and notice the present moment more
Lower stress, anxiety and thoughts
Be generous and kind to others - Improves relationships
Provides perspective and helps you look for the good in your life
Gratitude helps you to be more mindful and in your parasympathetic nervous system - your rest and digest mode. If you're feeling grateful, you're also being mindful because you can't feel gratitude without becoming aware of what you're experiencing. It's impossible to feel or experience fear or anxiety, and gratitude at the same time. There are huge health benefits when you're not in this 'fight flight' mode of stress.
Instead of worrying about what you don't have, be grateful for what you do have.
Gratitude needs to be practised consistently (not just known) - see our journal here to support you for 9 weeks to rewire your brain (LINK), create more positive thought patterns and enjoy more small moments.
How you can express gratitude:
Creating a habit before meals - gratitude for the food, people and planet
To loved ones
In your journal - note down daily gratitude and attract more to be grateful for... Who are you grateful for? What opportunity are you grateful for? Something near or in sight of you?Something some did for you?
Enjoy more moments of JOY and look for the good in your life.
“Gratitude can boost neurotransmitter serotonin and activate the brain stem to produce dopamine. Dopamine is our brain's pleasure chemical. The more we think positive, grateful thoughts, the healthier and happier we feel.” Cerebral Cortex
